Tupac Shakur Family

Tupac Shakur (who also went by 2Pac and Makaveli) was an American Actor & Rapper. Tupac Shakur is considered one of the all time Rapping greats. Tupac's work mostly focused on the social issues of contemporary American society. He has become the symbol of fight against injustice. Some of the works he is known for are- "2Pacalypse Now", "Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z..", "Me Against the World", "All Eyez on Me".

Tupac Shakur aka Tupac Amaru Shakur was born as Lesane Parish Crooks on 16th June 1971 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, United States to Afeni Shakur & Billy Garland.

Some of the movies he has appeared in are- Juice (1992), Poetic Justice (1993), Gridlock'd (1997), Gang Related (1997).

Tupac Shakur was murdered on 7th September 1996 by an unknown shooter, he was shot 4 times, he was in the hospital for 6 days, died after that from irreparable damages.

Afeni Shakur: Afeni was born as Alice Faye Williams in North Carolina in 1947 to Rosa Belle(mother)- a home maker & Walter Williams Jr.- a truck driver. She was a businessman and an activist. She was an active member in Black Panther Party.

She was married to Gust Davis in 2004. Previously she had been in relationship with Lumumba Shakur, Mutulu Shakur & Billy Garland.

She had two children in Sekyiwa Shakur & Tupac shakur. Tupac, the rapper was close to his mother and has songs named “Dear Mama” , “Mama's Just A Little Girl “dedicated to her. She died of heart attack in 2006.

Billy Garland: William Jefferson Garland , the biological father of Tupac had little contact with Tupac when he was growing up. Tupac sometimes thought his father did not want to see him, or dead when he did not see him for longer times. It is believed that Billy got close to Tupac after he was shot in 1994. Bilyl was a fellow member of the Black Panther Party.

Billy lived with his other family around New York until he passed away in 1999. According to his daughter Takerra he was very close to all of his other children.

Lumumba Shakur: Lumumba Shakur was a leader of the Black Panthers of Harlem. Lumumba & Afeni lived together from 1968-1971. Lumumba & Afeni were arrested by the police on multiple charges of conspiring against the United States.

Lumumba walked out of the relationship when he came to know he was not the father of the child in Afeni’s belly (Tupac). Lumumba had died in 1971 in Louisiana.

Mutulu Shakur: Mutulu Shakur (born Jeral Wayne Williams) & Afeni were together from 1975 to 1982. He was an adopted Step-brother of Lumumba Shakur. He has been sentenced to 60 years in prison in relation to the 1982 Brinks Robbery. He was Acupuncturist by profession.

Walter Williams Jr.: Tupac's grandfather was a trucker, he was quite abusive, Afeni, Gloria & the mother moved out of house, leaving Walter Williams Jr. In 1958 to Bronx.

William Garland: William who was known as Cab fas the paternal grandfather of Tupac.

Rosa Belle: Rosa Belle was a home maker, Afeni Shakur & Gloria Jean are her 2 known daughters. Tupac's mother Afeni thought her mother was weak for not retaliating against her abusive husband.

Eloise Marie Barnes Garland: Eloise was born in 1930 in Florida, United States. She is the mother of Tupac’s biological father Billy Garland.

Sekyiwa Shakur: Sekyiwa Shakur, who was fondly called ‘Set’ by the family was the maternal half-sister of Tupac Shakur, she was his maternal half sister. They had the same mother. Tupac has referred to her in his songs as ‘Set’, She used a different second name in her youth to hide her link to the famous star to avoid all the unnecessary interest. She is the daughter of Mutulu Shakur.

Takerra Allen: Takerra Allen is the paternal half-sister of Tupac Shakur, she is the daughter of Billy Garland. She was born in 1984. She never met Tupac in person, but has corresponded in latter couple of times and talked on phone once

Mopreme Shakur: He was born Maurice Harding in 1967, known by his stage name Mopreme as well as Wycked in a Rapper. He was a member of the hip-hop group “Thug Life” with his step-brother Tupac Shakur.

Moprene used another stage name ‘Komani’ when he was a member of ‘The Outlawz’ (also founded by Tupac Shakur)

Yaki Kadafi: Yafeu Akiyele Fula born in 1977 to Yaasmyn Fula & Sekou Odinga was an American Rapper, he went by stage names- Yaki Kadafi, Young Hollywood, Killa Kadafi, The Prince. He was part of Hip-hop & rap groups such as - Dramacydal , Outlawz.

Yaki’s mother Yaasmyn Fula & Tupac’s mother Afeni Shakur were close friends. Yaki & Tupac remained friends till the death. He was accidentally shot in the head by Rashad Clark who confessed to it and serve 7 years in prison.

Geronimo Pratt: Elmer Geronimo Pratt was one of the high ranking members of the Black Panther Party. He was a friend of Tupac’s parents through the B.P.P.

Geronimo was a decorated military veteran (Silver star, Bronze star, Purple heart) before joining B.P.P. He had served in the Vietnam. He was born in 1947 in Morgan City, Louisiana & died in 2011 in Tanzania of a heart attack.

Kidada Jones: Kidada Ann Jones born in 1974 is an American actress & a model. She is the daughter of composer Quincy Jones & actress Peggy Lipton.

Kidada was Tupac’s girlfriend during the time he died. She was waiting for him in the hotel room when she was notified of the shootout, she stayed with him in the hospital till his death.
