Oprah Winfrey was born on January 29th 1954 in Kosciusko, Mississippi, United States to Vernita Lee- a housemaid & Vernon Winfrey- a barber turned city councilman. Oprah was raised by her single mother.

Oprah Winfrey Grandmother

Oprah lived with her grandmother Hattie Mae Lee(1900-1963) till the age of 6, her grandmother taught her how to read, she took Oprah to the Church and was a disciplinarian (who would beat Oprah sometimes with a stick)

Oprah Winfrey Sister: Patricia

Patricia Lee Lloyd: Oprah had a younger sister named Patricia born to her mother in 1960, she died of cocaine addiction in  2003.

Patricia Lofton: Oprah's mother had a third daughter in 1962 and named her Patricia as well, she was given up for adoption and Oprah didn't know she had a sister until 2010.

Jeffrey Lee: Oprah's mother had a fourth child, a son in late 1960s. He died of AIDS complications in 1989.

Stedman Graham: Stedman and Oprha have been living together since 1986, they got engaged in 1992 and remain unmarried to the day

Oprah Winfrey Son

Oprah had a son born to her prematurely, she named him Canaan, unfortunately the baby did not survive and died soon after.

Oprah Winfrey Ex-Boyfriends

Anthony Otey: Anthony was Oprah's First known Boyfriend. They had written each other 100s of letters, Otey remembers it fondly. They broke it off after a while, it was tragically on the Valentine's day, it was her idea.

William Taylor: Oprah had a intense relationship with William "Bubba" Taylor, Their relationship lasted for 5 years from 1971 to 1976. Oprah was moving out of Nashville for her career, she tried to persuade him to go with him and unfortunately it didn't work out for them, Oprah still fondly remembers her relationship with Mr. Taylor fondly.

John Frank Tesh: Oprah was in relationship with musician and composer John Tesh, it was in the late 1970s and was brief, apparently it was not yet time for interracial relationships.

Lloyd Kramer: Oprah was in relationship with the reporter Lloyd Kramer, he supported her through her bad phase of hair loss and bad perm. She remembers him as "the most fun romance ever"

Gayle King: Gayle and Oprah have been friends for a long time, during her depression years in 1970 Gayle supported Oprah, their friendship remains strong to the day, they were seen together so many times that people assumed they were lesbians. Gayle was born in 1954, she has her own show called "Gayle King show"
